Hanks rounds off Derby’s Varsity triumph in futsal finale

The University of Derby celebrated their Varsity triumph over the University of Hertfordshire as Callum Hanks’ leveller earned a 1-1 draw in the Varsity closer.

The visitors opened the scoring after five minutes, as Harvey Farmer powered an effort beyond Akash Sivakumar.

Derby, however, responded four minutes before the break, as Dine Evora unselfishly teed up Hanks for a simple finish.  

Both sides battled valiantly for a winner, but neither could land the decisive blow in a close-fought encounter.

After securing Varsity 2026, Derby will return to action on Sunday, April 26, where they will host the University of Bristol men’s firsts in the BUCS National Championship semi-final.
