Jaydon Banel’s dazzling solo goal saw Derby County claim a crucial 1-0 win over struggling Oxford United.
Derby came into this game five points adrift of the SkyBet EFL Championship play-offs and after a slow start from both sides, Banel struck following a brilliant run from his own half.
The home side carried on their momentum from the goal with Sam Szmodics having the best chances of the second half.
He fired a deflected shot over and had one saved from close range with 10 minutes to go.
In a tight second half the Rams, who travel to Norwich next, saw the game out against an Oxford side now ensconced in the relegation zone.
