Stall-holders have hailed the success of a new event at Derby’s Market Hall.
They say large crowds flocked have attend a monthly farmers’ market for the last Sunday of the month.

It was set up in a collaboration between Derby Market Hall and Derby Uncovered a local company that aims to promote the city’s history and heritage.
Janet Monk, who works for Derbyshire Mushrooms, gave her thoughts on the market and how successful it has been so far.
She said:Â “It’s obviously brought a lot more people in which is what is needed, so it’s been brilliant and more stalls would be welcome.”
Mary Bottom, who works for Staffordshire Cheese, also provided her opinion on the performance of the market.
She said: “I think the people who are running it are working very hard, but it’s up to people to come and shop here.”
Mary also provided some insight on the quality of the food that is sold at the farmers market in comparison with food you would buy at the supermarket.
She said: “It’s much better to buy quality. We make good cheese and we are not cheap, but if people want the quality they’ll have to pay a little more than you would at the big supermarkets.”

Derby Market Hall reopened last year in May after a major £35.1 million redevelopment.
Caroline, who works at the Market Deli, was asked about the refurbishment to market hall.
She said: “The renovation was great and the building definitely needed it. We still need to bring in some more traders though.”
Mary gave us her opinion on what she thinks the impact the farmers will have on local businesses.
She said: “People want to go out and do something. They want to come and talk to farmers and learn about how we make stuff.
“This helps bring attention to other local businesses in the area.”

After visiting the farmers market it is clear that the market has a very strong appeal to the locals and so far appears to be an extremely popular monthly event.
The next farmer’s market take place on March 22 from 10-3pm.
