Uttoxeter Town gained a big away point, but they failed to hold onto a lead with minutes remaining.
The 2-2 result against mid-table Tividale, means the side moves away from the bottom two in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
It was a hard-fought point away from home for the struggling Town side, who climbed out of the relegation zone after two long months in the bottom three.
It was Tividale who took a lead with just ten minutes left of the first half, but Uttoxeter came back firing with an equaliser from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute, followed by the goal to put them ahead three minutes later.
Tividale were reduced to ten men after a red card in the 85th minute.
However, despite the red, they went on to steal a late equaliser with just three minutes left of the match and snatch a point, but Uttoxeter fought on and got themselves closer to safety.
The performance was a much-improved one from the defeat against Northwich.
Uttoxeter fans were feeling more optamistic after the game I spoke to Uttoxeter Fan Jack.
He said: “Its a far better perforamance from the other day, the team just looked so much more like a team if you will.”
They go into a massive game at home to ninth-placed Brocton in which they will hope to climb further away from the drop.
Despite the good result, there will be regrets for Uttoxeter after throwing away the lead with just three minutes left of the 90.
Tividale were sat nine points ahead of Uttoxeter going into this game so its a very big away point for The Town.
With just six games left of the season Uttoxeter are fighting top make sure they can stay in this league for atleast another season.
Uttoxeter will hope to see this more as a point gained then two points dropped as they get into the business end of a busy league season.
