Heathrow Airport in London, which has more than 250,000 daily travellers, has been shut down due to a fire at an electrical substation nearby in Hayes.
The electrical substation was the main electric supplier of the airport forcing it to close until the emergency with lack of energy was sorted out.
The reasoning for the fire occurring at Nestles Avenue is still not revealed making the people raise their concerns about why the electrical substation was damaged.
More than 200,000 travellers were stranded to finish their flights leaving thousands confused and frustrated.
Professor Anthony Glees from the University of Buckingham, has shared his insights regarding the recent fire and explosion at Heathrow Airport, suggesting that it may have been a deliberate act of sabotage.
He points out that Ed Miliband characterised the incident as “unusual and unprecedented,” raising concerns about whether it was an accident or a targeted attack by Putin’s military intelligence service or another adversary.
The incident occurred shortly after Sir Keir visited a Trident-armed Vanguard nuclear submarine and Barrow, where he participated in the keel-laying ceremony for the next generation of Dreadnought nuclear-armed submarines. This timing has fuelled speculation about a possible connection to Russian sabotage.
With over 585,000 electricity substations in the UK, the explosion and fire at this specific substation are particularly suspicious. MI5 is currently investigating the site to determine whether it was a deliberate attack on critical national infrastructure.
Glees highlights previous instances of Russian sabotage in the UK, including the arrests of Dylan Earl and Jake Reeves for firebombing a warehouse that stored military equipment for Ukraine.
Earl has pleaded guilty to recruiting others for the Russian intelligence services, marking the first trial under the National Security Act of 2023.
The absence of backup power at Heathrow is also a concerning issue, given its significance to national security.
The fact that serious discussions are occurring about whether this was another incident of Russian sabotage is, in itself, a victory for Putin. Glees underscores the necessity of determining the cause of the fire and explosion to address any potential threats to national security.
