Derby men’s 1s captain Rasheed Babajide said he felt the relationship the team have together was key to winning the title on the final game of the season.
Derby men’s 1s defeated Worcester men’s 1s 4-0 which saw them win the Men’s Midlands Tier 2B title today.
The defender was delighted after securing the title today. He said: “It is a good feeling I believed in the boys. But we just tried to treat it as a normal game.”
The 23-year-old spoke about the close relationship that the team had together. He said: “It was a key part to our success this season. I think it is the one thing that we have compared to other teams and I feel like this has carried us through the entire season.
“I’m very proud to have led the team to a title, but I have done it with my brothers. We understand each other. We have played with each other for a while now so to finally win is a great feeling.”
Babajide expressed his delight with his own performance and keeping a clean sheet. “I thought I played well, but for me I can always play better,” he said. “You can never be angry about a win and clean sheet.”
However, the season is not over. Derby will travel away to Herts in Varsity next week, so there is still an opportunity for the team to win a double.
