Derby County Women welcome Burnley to the Don Amott Arena this afternoon as the Ewes look to get back to winning ways after their narrow 2-1 defeat to FA Women’s National League (north)  leaders, Newcastle United, last month.

This will not be an easy game for Derby. Burnley have only suffered one defeat on the road in the league this season and has not lost successive away league games since August 2021 when they lost to Fylde and Derby respectively.

The Ewes have lost three of their last four league matches leaving them four points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand. A home game against a strong side gives Derby a strong incentive to throw them back into the mix with the top four sides on the table.

The two sides last met in March 2023. Burnley came out as resounding winners, beating Derby 4-1 at the Lancashire County Ground in Leyland. Lizzie Hamer put the Clarets ahead early in the game. The lead was then doubled quickly thanks to a goal scored by Laura Elford. Leah Embley made it 3-0 to the home side before Becky McGrother pulled one back in the second half. Millie Ravening added a fourth from the penalty spot to seal an emphatic win for Burnley.

The game kicks off at 2pm and entry is available at the turnstiles.
