Coronavirus & The Olympics

The Tokyo Olympics were set to take place this year, however due to the Coronavirus pandemic, all that was put on pause with the event now set to take place in 2021. This has had a vast impact on many athletes, including World and European junior swimming champion, Alice Dearing. Our reporter, Elizabeth Ford spoke to her about the prospect of Olympic qualification and how the pandemic has affected this. Ford, also spoke to Ellie Jones, a dodgeball player from Warwick to discuss this.

Amateur Boxing and Covid-19 

During this pandemic, we have seen sports being majorly affected, especially at a non-professional level. Noah Abrahams visits a boxing gym to speak to coach, Clive Fearnon and amateur boxer, Adam Strange to see how well they’ve coped during this difficult period.

Abrahams also has a chat with boxing broadcaster Mike Costello, to see his views on how much boxing will suffer over the next five to ten years.

 

Derby County’s manager search

Derby County have faced a torrid start to the 2020/21 season and are now managerless after the departure of Phillip Cocu. They sit in 23rd spot, with Wayne Rooney in a caretaker role.

Matty Wyman spoke to a Derby County fan about the prospects that hold for the rest of the season.

Garden Centres & Christmas

This year has been like no other, so understandably people have wanted to get Christmas underway as soon as possible. This explains the increase in sales of Christmas trees at garden centres, our reporter Tom Scott investigates.
