Finding base products at an affordable price can be tricky, but luckily, drugstore brands have stepped up their game recently. Here are the top three affordable foundations that you can find in high street stores.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless
This foundation hit UK markets a lot later than the US, but nevertheless, it left us lost for words. It has gained a cult following, and for a good reason. It’s light on the skin but also gives medium coverage, which can be built up to full. A matte finish, this foundation is best for oily skin.
Maybelline Superstay Foundation
This new foundation has been around in the US for a while, but hit UK stores only recently. It’s super full coverage, and lasts all day with a matte finish that allows natural shine come through. It’s been compared by many YouTubers to the infamous Huda Beauty #FauxFilter foundation, which is pretty much a mask of coverage.
L’Oreal Infallible Foundation Sticks
This foundation is the newest addition to L’Oreal’s Infallible line. Stick foundations are most known from high end brands, but L’Oreal have introduced them to the drugstore.
It’s extremely creamy and blends seamlessly; its formula makes it great for normal to dry skin. For oily skin, a pore-refining or mattifying primer would be advised. Unlike other stick foundations, the product doesn’t move around on the skin, which means concealer, bronzer and contour work well on top of the foundation.
The shade range does run pretty deep, but a lot of the shades have pink undertones, so it’s best to go into store to test your shade before buying! The best thing about these sticks that you can buy a few and use them for foundation, concealer highlighting (although under the eyes this tends to crease a little!), and cream bronzer and contour.
