Derby women’s firsts remain winless in the league this season after a 4-1 defeat to Loughborough thirds.

In a free-flowing game, Derby were second best as they still hunt for their first win in the Midlands 1A League.

The first goal of the game after came seven minutes when Freya Holman played a ball through to Ella Brennan, the midfielder beating the goalkeeper and scoring from outside the box.

Loughborough equalised in the 20th minute as Claudia Jones picked the ball up just outside the box and her strike went into the bottom-right corner.

The visitors took the lead just four minutes later, as Misha Bhandari got on the end of a cross and placed it into the net.

Loughborough extended the lead in the 60th minute, as Charli Wright beat Darcy Dickens and placed her shot into the bottom-left corner.

Loughborough got their fourth in the 72nd minute as Amy Crook hit a first-time shot straight into the bottom-right corner of the goal.

Derby failed to apply pressure to try to get back into the game and it finished 4-1 to Loughborough.

Next up for Derby women’s firsts is an away trip to Liverpool firsts in the Women’s National Trophy next week.
