Will Casey reporting from Kedleston Road
Derby University women’s 2s opened their BUCS league 4A campaign with a 1-1 draw against Lincoln 2s at Kedleston Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Lincoln took the lead in the 20th minute after a neat move led to Megan Harpham pouncing on a through ball to give the visitors the lead.
The away team held out well, but Derby continued to battle and were rewarded with seven minutes left on the clock when Amy Russell levelled from a wide angle.
Derby will look to build on the result next Wednesday when they continue their British Universities and Colleges Sport league programme with an away trip to Bedfordshire University.
