Chelsea and Leicester City were both confirmed as FA Cup finalists over the course of the weekend, setting up an interesting tie next month in the world’s oldest cup competition.
On Saturday, Chelsea overcame a somewhat weakened Manchester City side. Hakim Ziyech’s strike early in the first half sent Chelsea through to the final, continuing the positive start Thomas Tuchel has made in the Blues dugout and giving the club a chance to recover the trophy they lost to Arsenal last year.
Then on Sunday, Leicester beat Southampton in similar fashion, this time Kelechi Iheanacho prodding in a rebound early in the second half. The Saints provided little in front of goal in response, meaning Brendan Rodgers led his club to their first final since 1969.
