But Derby has the answer with multiple eateries that offer student deals suitable for a quick snack on the go that won’t break the bank.
A plethora of fast-food restaurants cater for those on a strict budget and make it easier to get a quick fix at a lower cost.
You don’t have to worry about not having enough time or money as some of the deals can be as low as £2.
For most of these, you will either need your student card, the UNiDAYS app or Student Beans app.
1) Burger King
After running some errands in town, you might find yourself with an awkward amount of time and an awkward amount of change.
Located either in the intu shopping centre food court or just off Liversage Road, Burger King offers a Whopper Jr., the baby brother of the Whopper burger, with small fries for £1.99.
All you need is the UNiDAYS app and you can claim it.
After some shopping in the intu or the Meteor Centre, your bank account may be looking hungry, but you shouldn’t be.
KFC offers a free snack box original recipe which includes a piece of chicken and fries when you spend just £3 in store.
Download the Colonel’s Club app and enter the code given to you by the Student Beans app to obtain your free food. Located in the food court in the intu Shopping Centre or at the exit of the Meteor Centre car park.
Home to possibly the best sausage rolls, Greggs will give you a free sausage roll, sweet treat or snack pack when you buy a sandwich deal for £3.25.
All you have to do is show your student beans ID or valid student card. There are three stores located in Derby city centre:
• The Market Place
• Saint Peters Street
• East Street
And don’t worry if you’re vegan, the vegan sausage roll is also included.
The value meals from McDonald’s are a lifesaver sometimes starting at £3.59 it hits the spot quickly.
Closing at 2am, it suits any time of day you may experience cravings or finish studying. Now you can snatch a free hamburger, cool mayo or even a McFlurry.
All you have to do is show your Student Beans ID. Located either in the city centre or by Markeaton Park.
If you’re feeling something a bit beefier, take yourself to Harvester where you can get two burgers for £10.
Just past the train station in Pride Park, it’s an ideal place to go to slightly out of the centre but not entirely out of reach.
6) Toby Carvery
Sometimes a quick fast food stint isn’t enough, and you may need something a bit heartier.
Toby Carvery offers two meals for £12. Split with a friend and you have a carvery for just 6 quid. All you can eat.
