Callum Hudson-Odoi could make his first England start tonight, with Jadon Sancho expected to miss out through injury – according to reports.

Declan Rice is also in line to make his first Three Lions start in place of Dele Alli, who Southgate is unlikely to risk.

Sancho is set to undergo a last-minute fitness test but is believed to be unfit to start against Montenegro, opening the door for Chelsea’s teenage sensation Hudson-Odoi.

Sancho complained of muscle tightness in the aftermath of England’s 5-0 rout of Czech Republic, as confirmed by Gareth Southgate.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “There are a couple we need to check, with Jadon being one. I think I will make some changes. Freshness can improve the team.”

He added: “A couple of checks on Dele, who’s missed a lot of football with a hamstring, Henderson with the injury he arrived with, Sancho a bit tight after the game. Nothing of a huge concern, but we want to make sure we are right.”

Hudson-Odoi made an impression in his 20-minute cameo against Czech Republic on Friday, with his shot cutting in from the left causing Tomas Kalas’ own goal.

At 18 years and 135 days, the Chelsea winger became England’s youngest-ever player to make their debut in a competitive match, a record previously held by Duncan Edwards (18 years, 183 days).
