Cardiff City are to inform FIFA that their £15 million transfer deal over Emiliano Sala was “void”, according to reports.

The Premier League outfit had announced the striker as their record signing from French side Nantes but have since refused to pay any part of the fee. Sala tragically lost his life in a plane crash in January.

FIFA have given Cardiff until April 3 to respond, following a complaint from Nantes.  According to Sky Sports, the Welsh club will argue that Sala’s contract was ‘null and void’ because it had been rejected by the Premier League.

A Cardiff City spokesperson said: “The club is aware of FIFA’s request for a response by April 3rd and is processing that accordingly. We have no further comment at this stage.”
