Following on from Wednesday’s exciting BUCS fixture, our reporter Reuben Clarke compiled together the key highlights from the University of Derby encounter, which saw the Men’s 3rds come out victorious 2-0 over the Men’s 4ths in the Aldi Men’s Midlands Tier 4 – 4B.
Lewis Smith opened the scoring for the Men’s 3rds with a well-placed finish to the bottom-right corner.
The Men’s 4ths kept up the pressure – but an error from the goalkeeper saw Matt Mowbray secure the win for the 3rds.
The victory, alongside a game in hand for the 3rds, means that promotion is not off the cards. But it will require results elsewhere to go in their favour.
