Spirals are a four-piece Yorkshire band, playing original songs to audiences across Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

Their indie-fuelled band supported Sunburst at the prestigious Leadmill in Sheffield, on May 10, to an audience of 250.

The gig at Leadmill had sold out over the course of three months of being announced, which was a cause for celebration for the band. The Spirals took to social media to thank every single one of their supporters for the opportunity to play a sold-out gig at a venue that many people dream of performing at.

Spirals consist of Alice Eden – singer and rhythm guitarist, Sammy Murdock – lead guitarist, Elliot Baker – bassist, and Joe Sooklall – drummer. Together, the four produce divine and creative melodies that get their crowds wanting more whenever they have finished their performance.

Having performed their sold-out gig on the Steel Stage at Leadmill, Elliot explained what it was like to be upon the stage where Arctic Monkeys, The Human League, Pulp, Oasis, and many more iconic bands have performed.

“Performing at this venue has always been a dream, due to its history and how well-known it is. It’s where many major bands have had their start and it is always a source of inspiration.”

Elliot also spoke about a personal highlight from the Leadmill gig, praising his bandmates in the process.

“Being able to do the whole gig with my best mates, the comradeship we have on stage is electric. That’s the part that always makes it for me.”

The Spirals set list consisted of six original songs which were On the Go, What a Way to Live, Better than this Town, If You Want Me, Run Run, and Someone New, and to finish off their incredible set, they performed an encore of Fire by Kasabian. Concert-goers expressed their thoughts of enchantment and how the Spirals were ‘a breath of fresh air’, and a ‘magnificent set of performers’.

The Spirals have been together for more than a year and have played at local pubs in Chesterfield such as The Neptune and Sheffield at The Washington, which are fan favourites for them to perform at, so to achieve something as big as playing a sold-out gig at Leadmill, proves that small bands can achieve huge things.
