Podcast description:

From the outstanding to the underreported, The Focus 90 Podcast is a new weekly football podcast dissecting the biggest issues in English football – inside and beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch.

Episode description:

Iwan Roberts scored over 200 goals – most of those with his head – and fears that dementia could be waiting for him after playing almost 800 games.

“It was like brain freeze times 100,” he recalls, after heading the ball hundreds of times during training throughout his career.

In this week’s episode, we welcome former Leicester City, Wolves, and Norwich City centre forward Iwan Roberts onto the podcast to talk about what the late Nobby Stiles’ family described as the ‘scandal of dementia’ in English football, after research found that former footballers are 3½ times more likely to die from the disease.

Roberts expresses his concerns about dementia and details how he is improving his awareness of the brain disease by participating in a new study tracking dementia indicators amongst former professional footballers, before voicing what he thinks could be done to combat it.
